Congratulations to all our Year 11 students in achieving such excellent results.

These results are a testimony to the commitment, adaptability, determination and resilience that students, staff and parents have displayed throughout the last two years. Everyone should be incredibly proud of the efforts they put in to minimise the impact of the disruption caused by the lockdowns. We wish all of our students every success in their future and look forward to welcoming many of them back for Sixth Form.

Congratulations to our Year 13 and Year 14 students who have achieved excellent results despite all the anxieties and disruption caused by the lockdowns in both of their years in the Sixth Form.

Many thanks to all our staff for their dedication, commitment and resilience and to our parents for their trust and continuing support over the past two unprecedented years. Particular congratulations must go to Zeynep Ayhan (4 x A*s), Willow Fowler and Grace Luckhurst (Both over 200 UCAS points). With over a quarter of our students achieving Norfolk Scholar status and 100% of our University applicants being accepted into their first choice course, we are exceptionally proud of the class of 2021 and we wish them every success in the future.

Exam Results 2019

Schools are not required to publish their exam and assessment results from both the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years as these have not been published as performance measures by the Secretary of State.

GCSE Results 2019

Percentage achieving 9-4 in both English and Mathematics

In 2019, 67% of students achieved a 9-4 in both English and Mathematics. Although national figures have yet to be released, we are confident that we are ahead. The Norfolk average for 2018 was 63.5%.

Progress 8

In 2019, our Progress 8 score was +0.18. We are very proud of our P8 score of -0.05 for Disadvantaged students which is far better than the national average. In 2019, AAN was in the top 35% of schools nationally for Progress.

Attainment 8

We are also awaiting Government confirmation but are currently projecting an Attainment 8 score of 46.0 in line with the national average for 2018.

English Baccalaureate (EBacc)

The EBacc is a name given to a defined set of subjects that the current Government believe (if studied and passed) would give a student a ‘broad’ education. It is not a recognised qualification that a student would be awarded a certificate in. We strongly believe in offering students as much choice in their Qualification Phase (KS4) options. Unlike many schools, we do not inisist that students take a full set of EBacc qualifying subjects, though we always give them the option to do so if that is what they would like. We feel that the set of subjects dictated by the EBacc is actually a narrow band of subjects because it would exclude choosing Art, Drama, Music, PE and other subjects that the Government deems ‘unacademic’.

In practice, only a small number of our students choose to have a full set of EBacc subjects. In 2019, 10% of AAN students chose all the EBacc subjects and 6% of our cohort achieved the EBacc. We believe that allowing this choice in their options is what is best for our students. We do have a full Information, Advice and Guidance (Careers) programme from Year 7 onwards and thus our students make an informed choice in what they wish to study in their Qualification Phase. We just do not dictate or restrict the choice to ensure they have to choose a set of subjects that conform directly to the current Government’s choice of a set of subjects that they call an EBacc.

A Level Results 2019

Average Grade

The 2019 average A Level grade was C- (28.3 average point score) in line with the national average. Value added for academic subject was -0.04 in line with the national average. Value added for Applied Subjects was +0.04 also in line with the national average.

A*-E:

48% of students achieved A*-E in 3 or more A Levels, 82% achieved A*-E in 2 or more A Levels.
