The combination of subjects that students elect to study during Key Stage 4 will allow doors to open for them to pursue their preferred career pathway when they are 16, or older, at Sixth Form, College or in employment with training.
We are continually developing our curriculum by providing an interesting, appropriate and stimulating range of subjects for all students. It is our intention that we give all students the opportunity to be measured as a success.
Some subjects are compulsory – we call this the ‘core’. Within the Core time, students will study for a qualification in English Language, English Literature, Maths and Science as well as studying PE and ICT.
All students will also follow the unexamined Personal Social Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) which includes Careers Guidance and Relationships and Sex Education. Additionally, students will have a whole school SMSC and Physical Education programme.
In addition to the core subjects, there are a number of ‘option’ subjects where students have a degree of choice. For the academic year 2021-22 this is undergoing a significant review and will probably look quite different from previous years. To find out more about what content subjects cover, please see the subject curriculum pages.
