‘We are #worldclass learners and leaders with a commitment to achieving the best for our community and our best in the work place, by acquiring a deep knowledge and understanding of our world’

Attleborough Academy has been designated the status of being a ‘World Class School’ by being awarded the ‘World Class Schools Quality Mark’ (WCSQM).

The World Class Schools Quality Mark is the new standard in education for schools which have gone beyond the limits of national inspection frameworks.

WCSQM awards a quality mark to schools that offer the best education to young people in the UK. Unlike other national assessment bodies, it assesses the students and not the school, using a framework of skills and competencies young people need to flourish in an emerging global economy.

The Award Scheme focusses on building on existing good practice within the school to optimise teaching and learning, embed the philosophy that every student can perform highly and systematically build the cognitive competencies that research demonstrates lead to success.

We are preparing young people for a world which is significantly different to that of twenty years ago. Young people need to perform in a diverse global economy which is typified by technological innovation, is highly competitive and where entrepreneurism is celebrated.

World Class schools equip students with knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive in a challenging international environment where those who succeed take risks and continually pursue improvement.

World Class students are educated to be active and effective citizens who have qualifications which give them choices, and the competences to choose well. They have developed a level of emotional and intellectual literacy which enables them to navigate a potentially bewildering plethora of opportunities and achieve success and contentment for themselves.

A World Class student

  • is highly literate scientifically, mathematically, technologically and culturally.
  • consistently out-performs students from similar contexts, and is committed to continually improving their performance.
  • is an excellent learner, dedicated to life-long learning.
  • is a compelling candidate in their field for higher education and/or employment, being globally aware, confident and prepared for life in an international environment.

Only schools which have a significant student cohort demonstrating World Class skills and competencies can apply for the World Class School Quality Mark accreditation and the World Class School network only awards this Quality Mark to non-selective state schools that "offer the best education to young people in the UK".

Once 'World Class', the idea is that schools in the network work together to give opportunities to their students regionally, nationally and internally that they could not offer in isolation. We feel that this status is a tribute to us all in our community. It does give us some assurance by accreditation that after all the upheavel involved in the 'Covid' years, we have truly built back better together.

We could not be awarded the title of a World Class School without World Class Students, World Class Parents and Carers and World Class Staff!
