Politics
Curriculum Content Overview
A Level Politics is an exciting and relevant course taught in our Sixth Form for students who want to understand how power works, how decisions are made, and how people can influence the world around them. Students explore contemporary UK politics, the workings of government, key political ideas such as liberalism, conservatism and socialism, and comparative politics through the study of the United States.
The course encourages students to debate current political issues, analyse evidence, compare different political systems and develop well-supported arguments. It is particularly suitable for students interested in current affairs, law, history, philosophy, economics, journalism, international relations or public service. Politics helps students build confidence in discussion, written communication and critical thinking, all of which are valuable for university, apprenticeships and future employment.
