Two teams took part in their DofE Silver practice expeditions during the Easter break. The weather was significantly better than that for the March Training Camp! The participants spent three days walking through the countryside in the Baconsthorpe area and were able to put into practice the many skills they had learned during their training sessions: map reading, navigation, cooking and menu planning, compass skills, tent erection.

They soon discovered if their planning had been effective and their equipment suitable for the tasks at hand. Blisters, as always, became the nemesis of some of the participants but the leaders are well versed in dealing with those and all participants were able to continue with their expeditions without too much discomfort. 

They are now looking forward to their qualifying expeditions during the May half-term.
