Year 9 Leadership Day

Posted on 8th Jul 2022

Year 9 Leadership day took place on Friday 8 July and is the first step for students hoping to become Prefects, House Captains and even Head Students!

All of our Year 9 students participated in a morning of team building, presentations and self-reflection on the topic of 'being a leader'. It is a crucial day in the calendar and signals our students transitioning from the lower to the upper school. We place a large emphasis on student leadership and student voice and leadership day allows us to select our first round of Prefects.

Our Prefects are in Year 10 and are the juniors to our Senior Prefects in Year 11. We have high expectations of all our Prefects and in Year 10 place particular emphasis on supporting the younger students in the Academy.

Year 10 prefects run tutor groups alongside their Form Tutors, running form activities and leading on the inter-house Olympiad competition. Form Tutors, House Leaders and our Principal are all involved with the selection of Year 10 Prefects; all commented on the many examples of teamwork, respect and commitment displayed over the day.

Well done to all our Year 9 students and best of luck to those who achieve Prefect status.

Kind Regards

Mr Stott
