KS4 and KS5 Art Students Experience Contemporary Art 

On 9 January, the Art Department took KS4 and KS5 students to the Tate Modern in London to experience contemporary art at first hand. When we arrived, students were instantly taken back by the vastness of the gallery and the immense installation work within. We then explored the various themes of the collections within the Tate Modern, sketched from the artwork on display, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere within the gallery which gave opportunity to pause, linger and talk about the works. We also enjoyed one of the ticketed exhibitions which showed Maria Buruscova’s fascinating sculptures. 

All in all, it was a really successful trip with many of our students gaining inspiration for their own Art work.
