STEM Williams F1 Trip
Posted on 5th Jun 2025In early June, we took a group of forty Year 9 students to the Williams F1 Head Quarters for a STEM Experience day.
Upon arriving, we were greeted and taken to the Monaco Room, our hub for the day. From here we were taken to the F1 Esports lounge, where students competed against each other across a range of circuits, with many quickly crashing into the wall as soon as it rained, and fighting for their spot on the podium.
From the Esports lounge, we were given a guided tour of the Williams F1 Museum. From Frank Williams' first car, to Senna's FW16 and even George Russell's debut F1 car. Throughout the tour, students were given opportunities to see how technology has changed the sport, assessing the wait of different materials and evaluating the safety of each car.
In the afternoon, students were given the challenge to design and test a new nose cone design, ensuring it crumpled on impact, protecting the driver. Each group became fiercely competitive, finding the best resources and competing for the best results in the crash test simulations.
Overall, this was an amazing day that provided students with a valuable insight into careers in STEM.
